Internal inductors

External inductors

External inductors heat the outer surface of a component, such as shafts, rings, or rotationally symmetric workpieces.

Contour inductors

These inductors are precisely adapted to the component geometry. They are used when defined heating patterns, reproducible hardened zones, or tight tolerances are required.

Hairpin and special inductors

For hard-to-reach geometries, local heating, or special production conditions, hairpin, fork, or special inductors are often used.

When is a repair feasible?

In many cases, inductors can be repaired or restored from a technical point of view. Whether a repair makes sense depends on the type of damage, the material condition, and the economic assessment.

Which technologies does INDUGO use for inductor construction?

Not every damaged inductor can be repaired economically. In the case of severely destroyed geometries, severe material fatigue, or tools that have already been damaged several times, a partial or complete rebuild is often the better solution.

  • multiple conductor sections need to be renewed

  • the cooling structure can no longer be safely restored

  • the original geometry can no longer be reproduced with process reliability

A professional inductor repair involves several steps that must be coordinated with one another.

Inspection and damage analysis

Each inductor is first evaluated visually, mechanically and – depending on the design – hydraulically and electrically. The aim is a realistic assessment of whether repair is possible.

Economical Feasibility

Not only technical feasibility matters, but also economic benefit. Therefore, it is checked whether repair, partial reconstruction or a new build is the most sensible solution.

Professional repair and refurbishment

Depending on the damage, conductor sections are straightened, soldered joints renewed, cooling channels repaired, connections replaced or individual functional areas reconstructed.

Quality inspection

After the repair, visual inspections, dimensional checks, and – depending on the design – leak, flow, and functional tests are carried out.

Return for further production use

After passing all tests, the inductor is returned to the customer and can be reintegrated into production.

Which technologies are used in inductor repair?

Depending on the design and requirements, different manufacturing and repair methods are used. These include, among others:

An inductor is not a simple wear part, but a precisely tuned process tool. Even small changes in shape, distance, cross‑section, or cooling can noticeably influence its behavior in the process. They affect, among other things, the heating rate, the resulting hardness pattern or brazing quality, as well as the energy input. At the same time, they determine the service life of the inductor and the repeatability in series production.

This is precisely why, in repairs or modifications, it is not enough to fix only visible damage. What matters is to fully preserve or specifically restore the process‑relevant function of the inductor.
